Article Abstract:

An artist with spinal muscular atrophy discusses the battles faced by the Medicare-dependent people in many states of the US due to cuts in funding for Medicaid programs and indifferent regulations regarding personal care for people with disabilities. It is suggested that if the Congress passes the Medicaid Community Attendant Services and Supports Act (MiCASSA), it will give beneficiaries more options for long term care at home or in other community-based settings.
