Full range of lymphoid proliferations are possible after transplantation

Article Abstract:

The first case of peripheral T-cell lymphoma of Tgamma/delta hepatosplenic type underscores the possibility of a full range of lymphoid proliferations in the post-transplantation period. Tgamma/delta hepatosplenic lymphoma is a rare lymphoid neoplasm, mostly affecting young adult men without antecedent immunodeficiency. The unusual case involves a child who presented with Tgamma/deltaHSL five years after receiving a heart transplant and nine months after developing Epstein-Barr virus positive, B-cell lymphoid hyperplasia involving the tonsils.

Alphacypermethrin-treated bednets may be cost effective for malaria prevention

Article Abstract:

Applying pyrethroid insecticides such as alphacypermethrin, permethrin and lambdacyhalothrin to bednets may be effective as a malaria control method in Gambia. Trials conducted in the area indicated that the pyrethroids killed anopheline mosquitoes which are the main carriers of malaria in Gambia. Among the three chemicals, alphacypermethrin was the most cost effective. As to side effects, there had been only a few cases of coughs and colds after exposure to the chemicals.
