Global health -- The Gates-Buffett effect

Article Abstract:

The $29 billion worth Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has a large impact on improving global health, by enabling research and aid to prevent and treat HIV-AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, malnutrition, and maternal and child health in countries with insufficient resources. The added contribution of Warren Buffett, the world's second-richest man, of an estimated $37 billion to the foundation, has led to attention on the issue of global inequities and health care, and has attracted funding for global problems.
