Government moves to enshrine infection control in law

Article Abstract:

The Department of Health (DoH) has published draft plans on a code of practice that would be enshrined in legislation, in an effort to tackle hospital hygiene and reduce the growing number of health care-associated infections. Under the code, the trusts would be required to provide nurses with infection control training through induction programmes and regular updates, and ensure that practices such as aseptic techniques are standardized across all areas.
