Fab is critical in vaccine design

Article Abstract:

A more effective vaccine against hepatitis C virus presents to the immune system the epitopes identified by Fab fragments with in vitro neutralizing activity. These recombinant Fabs can be used to examine the anti-HCV/E2 immune response and to investigate the presence of antibody clones in the response produced by different vaccines, making them an important component in vaccine design and evaluation.

Adult mouse model could advance research

Article Abstract:

An adult mouse model for the Ebola virus developed by the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases may accelerate the pace of developing vaccines and therapy that would effectively combat the deadly disease. Researchers led by Mike Bray said the model may be used in the initial evaluation of Ebola virus vaccines and, thus, contribute to efforts toward controlling Ebola infection.
