Harnessing brain signals shows promise for helping patients with paralysis

Article Abstract:

The desire to communicate is considered as a fundamental need, and a growing number of researchers in the field of brain-computer interface (BCI) development are working towards patients who suffer from severe motor disabilities. Researchers are continuing to explore harnessing on patients' own brain signals as a means to communicate and function independently.

George Daley, MD, PhD, talks about the clinical promise of stem cell research

Article Abstract:

Stem cell biologist George Daley is the recipient of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director's Pioneer Award that enables the biomedical researchers to pursue creative new research directions. Daley is interested in blood development and the origins of the hematopoietic cells that could be used for transplantation in patients.
