Healthier working lives across the UK

Article Abstract:

The ways in which the NHS organizations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are improving the lives of their staff are analyzed. Healthier working lives will have to include human resources policies and practices, lifelong learning, health protection, health improvement, working practices and career development in order to be successful, as it is not simply a health promotion and health and safety issue.

Putting on gloves

Article Abstract:

The Health and Safety at Work Act places a responsibility on employers to provide a safe working environment for employees by providing protective equipment such as gloves. Disposable gloves should be worn when hand contact with blood or potentially contaminated substances is possible.

Gaining patient consent for blood tests following sharps injuries

Article Abstract:

The various European Union laws governing patient consent for blood tests after a needlestick injury are discussed. The rights of patients in various mental states and in various age groups are presented along with related public heath laws.
