How an anomalous finding led to a new system of psychotherapy

Article Abstract:

Cognitive therapy is one of the fastest-growing psychological approaches to psychiatric problems and is practiced in most regions of the world. Research has shown preliminary evidence that compared to other treatment approaches, cognitive therapy was effective in treating a diverse range of conditions beyond unipolar depression, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and many others.

Aldosterone impairs vascular reactivity by decreasing glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity

Article Abstract:

The decrease in the endothelial glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) expression and activity in vitro by aldosterone has resulted in increased oxidant stress and decreased bioavaliable nitric oxide (NO) levels. The results have shown that aldosterone has induced a G6PD-deficient phenotype to impair endothelial function.
