How to help the child

Article Abstract:

A booklet designed to help parents understand and relieve pain in their children has been compiled by Action for Sick Children (ASC) with the help of paediatric nurses, doctors and psychologists. With adults frequently underestimating the pain relief needed by children, the Children in Pain booklet includes a chart aimed at helping children describe the amount of pain they are in. The booklet provides information about the types of drugs available for relieving pain and highlights the way in which parents can help children avoid pain by working in partnership with hospital staff.
