Hypodermoclysis as a means of rehydration

Article Abstract:

Hypodermoclysis is a technique for replacing fluids by injecting it into the subcutaneous layer of skin, where it is easily absorbed by the plentiful blood supply to the area. Hypodermoclysis is not used very often, however, it is safe, effective and rarely causes any complications. This makes it very suitable for use with the elderly who cannot take in enough fluids because they are very ill. Details are given about precautions which should be taken, which fluids can be used, common side-effects and the procedure itself.
