Implementing effective infection control in the hospital environment

Article Abstract:

The health care environment influences the patient's sense of well being and has an impact on their health and safety. Therefore it is important to maintain high standards of hygiene during hand washing in addition to environmental cleaning and basic equipment decontamination that helps reduce the risk of patients acquiring health-care-associated infection (HAL).

Barrier to the provision of effective pain management

Pain continues to be an unacceptable but common sequel to surgery and despite major advances in the management of pain operative pain management in British hospitals continues to be inadequate. Nurses are encouraged to play an active and pivotal role within the multidisciplinary team to recognize, prevent and treat it.
