Incentives lower costs of e-prescribing

Article Abstract:

Separate initiatives were launched by the Massachusetts Medical Society and two health plans to make electronic prescribing more affordable to physicians in the state. Two rival health plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Tufts Health Plan had stated plans for jointly spending $3 million to roll out e-prescribing technology to the 3,400 highest prescribers in their networks.

Doctors also ship work overseas (but they donEt always know it)

Article Abstract:

The American medical transcription industry has $15 billion to $20 billion market, but still its technology help desk support, transcription and other services that physicians rely on, are moved out of US to India, China, Pakistan, South Africa and Russia. The doctors are not aware of such outsourcing as the companies providing such services do the transcription.
