Innovation in fast-changing Europe

Article Abstract:

The European Network of Health Promoting Schools was initiated in 1991 and has grown to 37 countries currently. The Network seeks to provide school children with comprehensive education on health issues in the context of both social and physical concerns. The unique socio-geography of Europe requires an approach that integrates national and local perspectives.

New horizons in health

Article Abstract:

The World Health Organization in the Western Pacific Region has developed a plan for health education in schools that stresses preparation for life, protection of life and quality of life. Health promoting schools are an essential component in the preparation area of health planning. China has taken the lead in implementing school health promotion.

Eastern Mediterranean: an action-oriented curriculum

Article Abstract:

In 1988 the countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Sudan where chosen to implement a School Health Curriculum by WHO. Communication between agencies and countries facilitated a program plan which emphasizes health education and community outreach by students.
