Interventions for seropositive injectors-research and evaluation: An integrated behavioral intervention with HIV-positive injection drug users to address medical care, adherence, and risk reduction

Article Abstract:

The development of Interventions for Seropositive Injectors-Research and Evaluation (INSPIRE), a randomized controlled trial of an integrated intervention for HIV-positive injection drug users (IDUs), and the characteristics of the baseline sample are described. It was found that the use of injection and noninjection substance was prevalent, and sexual and injection risks were each reported by more than 25% of participants.

Principles of positive prevention

Article Abstract:

HIV-infected persons are able to live longer and healthier lives, chiefly as a result of effective antiretroviral treatment (ART). As HIV is transmitted through human relationships, it should be approached fundamentally as a relational phenomenon and its prevention efforts must address transmission and acquisition.

Sociodemographic, behavioral, and clinical correlates of inconsistent condom use in HIV-serodiscordant heterosexual couples

Article Abstract:

Many couples in which one partner is HIV-positive do not consistently use condoms, according to a survey of 145 such couples. Unemployment, low educational achievement, intravenous drug abuse, African-American race, and bisexuality were risk factors for inconsistent condom use.
