It's your money - choose financial advisor carefully

Article Abstract:

Individuals choosing a financial advisor should understand the advisor's pricing policies and practice emphasis. For example, some advisors may concentrate on asset-management; others may also offer estate planning and other services. The size of an individual's portfolio is another factor in choosing an advisor. Several types of financial advisors are described, including financial planners, registered investment advisors, chartered financial consultants and others. In addition, factors to consider are listed, such as the advisor's background, references, specialization and costs.

Doctors could feel pinch if Medicaid agreement fails

Article Abstract:

The future of Medicaid reform remains very uncertain. The House Commerce Committee is revising the "MediGrant" plan, passed by Congress but vetoed by Pres Clinton, and criticism of the National Governors Assn's bipartisan proposal is mounting. Some experts are warning that reform could impact physicians' revenues. States could tax physician revenues or require doctors to charge some patients Medicaid rates, according to the American Medical Assn legislative affairs VP Ross Rubin.

Physicians should study the issues and pay close attention to financial planning in the months ahead while health reform measures are debated.
