Midwives Anne Haines and Linda Kimber won the Nursing Times 2005 award in the Midwifery Services Category for their project 'Developing the culture that supports the process of normal birth', which challenges ingrained practices of childbirth. The project explores non-pharmacological techniques for pain relief, providing women with coping strategies to manage their labor and reduce intervention, which includes a massage program and deep breathing techniques.

How I coped with... the Tsunami disaster

Trevor Fisher recalls his experience during the Tsunami incident in Phuket, Thailand. He played the role of helping Tsunami victims with the help of his nursing abilities and also organized teams of outreach volunteers in all major areas to search for missing people.
