Law and disorder

Article Abstract:

Home Secretary, Jack Straw, plans to introduce legislation allowing people who have serious personality disorders to be detained indefinitely even although they have committed no offence. However, mental health groups are angry because it is clinically impossible to define a serious personality disorder. The legislation is a threat to personal liberty and they are worried that anyone who is deemed to be different will be incarcerated. Some groups welcome the move because it allows more control of people with mental health problems.
