Low-fat dietary pattern and risk of invasive breast cancer: The women's health initiative randomized dietary modification trial

Article Abstract:

A dietary modification trial is carried out to find if a low-fat dietary pattern can reduce breast cancer risk. Results showed that among post-menopausal women, a low-fat dietary pattern did not result in significant reduction in invasive breast cancer risk over an 8.1 year average follow-up period, however the non-significant trends observed suggests reduced risk associated with a low-fat dietary pattern indicating that longer, planned, nonintervention follow-up may yield definitive comparison.

Influence of estrogen plus progestin on breast cancer and mammography in healthy postmenopausal women: the Women's Health Initiative randomized trial

Article Abstract:

Hormone replacement therapy may increase a woman's risk of breast cancer, according to a study of 16,608 women. Some of the women took hormone replacement therapy for about five years. Those who did had a 24% increased risk of breast cancer compared to those who did not. In addition, the cancers were more advanced at diagnosis in the women who took hormone replacement therapy.

Effects of conjugated equine estrogens on breast cancer and mammography screening in post menopausal women with hysterectomy

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the effects of conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) on breast cancers and mammographic findings. It was found that treatment with CEE alone does not increase breast cancer incidence in postmenopausal women with prior hysterectomy, however, treatment with CEE increases the frequency of mammography screening requiring short interval follow up.
