The benefits of assertive community treatment

Article Abstract:

Mental health patients in Coventry, UK, benefit from the establishment of a support project which aims to help psychiatric patients develop a greater level of independence in both their social and medical lives. The assertive community treatment outreach network (ACT-ON) project deals with up to 45 patients at any one time, providing support and medical help for those assessed to be suitable for referral to the project. The intervention of ACT-ON prevents many psychiatric patients falling through the social service safety net.

Writing and publishing on clinically effective practice

Article Abstract:

A nurse who has undertaken a successful clinical audit or research study should consider disseminating the results. The dissemination may be through a range of means including a journal article or a conference presentation. The compilation of short answers to ten basic questions will provide a framework for any form of dissemination. However, a research report should follow a traditional pattern, and a study of past issues will reveal the specific requirements of different journals. Advice for authors is included.
