Mean streets

Article Abstract:

Scottish nurses are calling for an investigation into the reasons why so many young women are turning to prostitution in Glasgow, UK, following the seventh murder of a prostitute since 1993. Glasgow City Council believes decriminalization and the establishment of licensed saunas may help the prostitutes. Research revealed that over 80% of prostitutes are regular drug users and nursing bodies suggest more research needs to be done to discover the underlying causes of prostitution.
