Mending broken bones

Article Abstract:

Up to 20,000 UK elderly patients may die each year due to circumstances related to hip fracture, according to the National Osteoporosis Society. A rise in the number of elderly people has lead to an increase in patients being admitted for fractured hips. The UK National Health Service has implemented a fast-track referral process to speed up the time it take for elderly hip fracture patients to be transferred to a trauma ward. Patients may often need by physical and psychological help to overcome problems associated with hip fracture.
