'Mental health monies that have been saved are being spent in other areas'

Article Abstract:

Mental health directorates in England that have successfully managed their funds are being penalized by having their budgets trimmed to finance overspends in other areas, implying that other areas of NHS are considered more important than mental health problems or learning disabilities. At the annual round of budget setting with trust executives, mental health directorate managers need all available support to defend the rights of service users to receive the most appropriate treatment.
