Mobilizing the teachers

Article Abstract:

An active role in malaria control is being played out in schools. Teachers and administrators in Zanzibar are taking an integrated approach in controlling malaria and intestinal parasites. Zimbabwe has incorporated malaria prevention in its school health program. School prevention programs can be cost-effective public health measures with educational benefits. Other infections and illnesses by also be prevented as a side benefit.

Safe motherhood: a success story in Sri Lanka

Article Abstract:

The maternal mortality rate in Sri Lanka has declined steadily since the 1920's. While the mortality rate is ten times higher than some developed nations, it rates well compared to its neighbors. Education, family planning, and widely available health services have done much to improve the conditions of maternal care in the country.
