Monitoring temperature

Article Abstract:

Core body temperature measurements are taken to assess for deviation from the normal range that might indicate disease, deterioration in condition, infection or reaction to treatment. Core temperature is the balance between heat gain produced by cell metabolism and heat loss from various mechanisms.

Respirations can provide health care professionals with a wealth of information related to a patient's conditions, be it respiratory, cardiovascular or neurological. They are assessed to establish a baseline on admission, monitor changes in respiratory status and evaluate response to treatment.

Monitoring pulse

Article Abstract:

Pulse is a wave-like sensation indicative of arteries expanding during the systolic phase and recoiling during the diastolic phase of each cardiac cycle. A brief description on monitoring the pulse rate, pulse rhythm and pulse amplitude is presented.
