Negative mood changes during hormone replacement therapy: a comparison between two progestogens

Article Abstract:

Medroxyprogesterone appears to produce fewer negative mood changes than norethindrone when used in combination with estrogen for hormone therapy, according to a study of 51 postmenopausal women. Both drugs mimic the action of progesterone, which is given to protect the woman from the adverse effects of estrogen.
