New anti-addiction drug slow to catch on in primary care

Article Abstract:

Primary care doctors are reluctant to prescribe buprenorphine, an anti-addiction drug, to patients for the treatment of addiction. Inability to monitor patients, lack of insurance coverage and untrained doctors are the major hurdles for the acceptance of the drug in primary care.
