New guidelines give specifics for pneumonia care

Article Abstract:

The Infectious Diseases Society of America has released revised guidelines to aid physicians in the management of dangerous flu complication known as community-acquired pneumonia. The guidelines address new issues such as the emergence of the SARS virus and the advent of bioterrorism, in which physicians must be watchful for evidence of possible use of deadly, weaponized agents that can cause respiratory distress.

Kicking butt

Article Abstract:

Primary care physicians are putting their efforts on connecting smokers with the help they need to stop this habit that could make all the difference in freeing them from the addiction of nicotine. Patients who quit smoking would immediately lower their risk of heart disease and bronchitis, and would reduce their risk of a long list of cancers, chronic pulmonary diseases and many other illnesses.
