New methods suggest AIDS toll lower than estimated

Article Abstract:

The UNAIDS has estimated that in India there are 5.7 million HIV-infected individuals against 5.2 million as reported by the government thus making India the country with the most HIV infections. After considering the methods used to find the number of people infected by AIDS in India, it was found that the survey was carried out only in public clinics that were visited by a higher proportion of poor people since rich people hardly visited public clinics thus increasing the number of HIV-infected individuals.
