How Howard Pyle helped make America safer

Article Abstract:

The voluntary-safety movement in the US would not have prospered without the pioneering efforts of Howard Pyle, a strong advocate of the concept during his 15-year tenure as president of the National Safety Council from 1959 until his retirement in 1974. The voluntary method of worker safety remains the most effective as it reduces workplace injuries through different safety programs implemented in companies.
