Herpes simplex virus chronically infected human T lymphocytes are susceptible to HIV-1 superinfection and support HIV-1 pseudotyping

Article Abstract:

CD4+ T cells can be infected with both HIV and herpes simplex virus (HSV). A cell line can be used to model the interaction of the two viruses. HSV infection could make AIDS progress faster.

Involvement of protein kinase C in HIV-1 gp-120-induced apoptosis in primary endothelium

Article Abstract:

Protein kinase C in endothelium increases when exposed to the HIV gp-120 protein. The enzyme appears to be linked to cell death in this tissue, as is the CXCR4 receptor.
