Oral health literacy among adult patients seeking dental care

Article Abstract:

The association of knowledge, dental care visits, and oral health status with oral health literacy in dental patients is examined using multivariate logistic regression analyses and a word-recognition test called Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Dentistry-30. Findings showed that a significant number of patients have low level of oral health literacy.

The psychosocial impact of developmental dental defects in people with hereditary amelogenesis imperfecta

Article Abstract:

The possible negative psychosocial effects associated with amelogenesis imperfecta (abnormal enamel formation characterized by poor esthetics and dental sensitivity) diseased patients is examined. Results indicate high levels of social avoidance, fear of negative evaluation, distress, low self esteem and mastery, and age related differences.

A costs analysis of dental treatment for ectodermal dysplasia

Article Abstract:

The models that are developed to study the cost effectiveness of the treatment approaches for Ectodermal dysplasia (ED), a hereditary defect in the tissues of the embryonic ectoderm are analyzed. The statistics that provide an analysis of cost effectiveness of the treatment approaches for ED are presented.
