Osteoclasts degrade endosteal components and promote mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cell

Article Abstract:

The potential role of bone-resorbing osteoclasts in homeostasis and stress-induced mobilization of hematopoietic progenitors is investigated. Different stress situations activity of osteoclasts (OCLs) along the stem cell-rich endosteum region of bone, secretion of proteolytic enzymes and mobilization of progenitors.

PPAR-[gamma] regulates osteoclastogenesis in mice

Article Abstract:

The pro-osteoclastogenic effect of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-[gamma] (PPAR-[gamma])A is examined by using aTie2Cre/flox mouse model. Results described a major role for PPAR-[gamma] and its ligands in promoting osteoclast differentiation and bone resorption.

Genetic deficiency in Pparg does not alter development of experimental prostate cancer

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that neither deletion of the nuclear peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma nor its total ablation influence prostate cancer development in a mouse model.
