Physicians back HCA purchase of nonprofit hospital chain

Article Abstract:

An estimated 300 Kansas City area physicians employed by or affiliated with Health Midwest have signed a petition supporting the proposed $1.1 billion sale of the nonprofit hospital system to for-profit HCA Inc. Health Midwest physicians signed the petition and believe that this sale would support the work of medical staffs, hospital employees, and contribute benefits to the patients served by Health Midwest hospitals.

A growing number of doctors are setting up practices in shopping malls rather than in medical office buildings. The patients often find the location very convenient. Doctors can use the space to distinguish themselves from other doctors by having their name prominently displayed. Real estate owners find doctors to be dependable, and recession proof.

Fee-setting plan proposed to control costs

Article Abstract:

Physicians are looking into ways to control their health care costs due to fee schedules imposed by private insurers and Medicare. The various proposals suggested by different physician groups are presented alongwith the Milwaukee-area employers suggesting coverage of pays for doctors and hospitals.
