More flexibility sought for attendings

Article Abstract:

Guidelines governing Medicare financial support for physician training should wait until Congress has completed Medicare reform, according to the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council. The new rules would eliminate a requirement that a single attending physician supervise each patient's care, but it would require that an attending be physically president for the important part of medical services. Additional provisions of the new rules are discussed.
