Platelet CD36 links hyperlipidemia, oxidant stress and a prothrombotic phenotype

Article Abstract:

Multiple mouse in vivo thrombosis models are used for showing that genetic deletion of Cd36 has protected mice from hyperlipidemia-associated enhanced platelet reactivity and the accompanying prothrombotic phenotype. The interactions of platelet CD36 with specific endogenous oxidized lipids have played a vital role in the clinical associations between dyslipidemia, oxidant stress and a prothrombotic phenotype.

Signals leading to apoptosis-dependent inhibition of neovascularization by thrombospondin-1

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the mechanisms by which the naturally occuring angiogenesis inhibitor thrombospondin-1 can limit blood vessel density and control tumor growth. Topics addressed include the activation of apoptosis by thrombospondin-1 in endothelial cells.

Oxidative damage-induced inflammation initiates age-related macular degeneration

Article Abstract:

Several researches and studies of mice models are conducted to explain the effects of oxidative damage and inflammation on the age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in humans. The oxidative damage-induced inflammation is found to highly facilitate AMD.
