Pulling together

Article Abstract:

Public continence awareness has improved a lot since the Association of Continence Advisors (ACA) was established in 1981. The ACA is now called the Association for Continence Advice, and aims to raise awareness of continence, and acknowledge the 'right to be continent' and people's right to standards of management and care of their condition. In 1992, the Continence Foundation was established as a continence resource centre. It aims to develop and coordinate professional, consumer and research activities, and inform professionals and the public about the best continence practices. The Continence Foundation is funded by a Section 64 grant, and receives other funds for equipment.

All together now..

Article Abstract:

The level of nursing representation in primary care groups (PCG) will not be as great as had been hoped. Most GPs have started preliminary discussions with other practices about the formation of of local PCGs, and most of the proposals in the The New NHS white paper are welcomed. However there are reservations about further change and the promise of more work. GPs are concerned that PCGs may have inadequate management budgets and that the demands of running a PCG would take them away from their roles as clinicians.
