Recommendations for the nutritional management of patients with diabetes mellitus

Article Abstract:

A set of dietary suggestions for diabetics in terms of nutrients and their biochemical effects is presented. These recommendations serve not only to educate diabetics about their disease but also as advice for them and their families. These health tips remind diabetics to maintain their health from any possible vascular complication arising from diabetes. They are culled from existing medical literature and changes will be made with the publication of new relevant data.

Age and health indications assessed by silhouette photographs

Article Abstract:

A novel set of silhouette photographs were developed to investigated the influence of overweight or central fat distribution on age, health and expected life span perceptions. The study showed that overweight or central fat distribution, indicated by higher body mass index (BMI) or higher waist to hip ratio, are perceived to look older, to expect poorer health and a shorter life span.

Prediction of dietary flavonol consumption from fasting plasma concentration or urinary excretion

Article Abstract:

The links between flavonols intake, urine excretion and plasma concentration of flavonols were examined to determine the feasibility of developing a biomarker for the flavonol content of habitual diets. Dietary flavonols appeared in plasma and urine as possible biomarkers in concentrations linked to intake.
