Reengineering in behavioral medicine

Article Abstract:

A Department of Behavioral Medicine in a large midwestern hospital reengineered its model of therapy and operating systems. An assessment task force identified the goals of developing an interdisciplinary team to treat patients, providing a single location for patient intake, creating an integrated documentation system, and the need for an aggressive system to manage cases. The result of this assessment shifted the unit focus to a model designed for crisis intervention and short-term diagnosis.
