Differentially expressed genes regulated by acute distention in amniotic epithelial (WISH) cells

Article Abstract:

Distention of fetal membranes stimulates the expression of genes that produce interleukin-8 and pre-B-cell colony-enhancing factor. Fetal membranes become distended as the fetus grows.

Differentially expressed genes regulated by acute distention in vitro

Relaxin causes proliferation of human amniotic epithelium by stimulation of insulin-like growth factor-II

Article Abstract:

A protein called relaxin appears to stimulate the growth of fetal membranes, according to a study of fetal membrane cell cultures. It does this by stimulating the production of insulin-like growth factor-II. Researchers are focusing on fetal growth because unborn babies that are too small or too large are more likely to be born prematurely.
