Reproducibility of a food frequency questionnaire used in the New York University Women's Health Study

Article Abstract:

Volunteer participants in substudies regarding reproducibility of dietary questionnaire measurements are more likely to provide accurate responses to the questionnaire. The research, conducted among enrollees to New York University Women's Study, revealed that the phenomenon is more inclined to accuracy of reporting of absolute intake levels rather than the dietary composition. Self-selection was likewise responsible for the difference in food consumption habits.

Colorectal cancer and intake of dietary fibre. A summary of the epidemiological evidence

Article Abstract:

The case-control and cohort analysis indicate a negative relation between the fiber intake and risk of attaining colorectal cancer. Diets high in vegetables and fruits and low in fats and meats had the most protective effect. The dietary fiber is usually of vegetable origin, the fibre content of cereals is variable. One study showed the risks of cancer are enhanced by high consumption of cereal fiber but the mechanism is not yet explained.
