Article Abstract:

Research has shown that depression in children is essentially the same as depression in adults and may even respond to the same treatments. However, it is possible that some antidepressants may adversely affect a developing brain. Cognitive behavioral therapy may also be effective but it isn't clear how long any treatment must be given.
