Resident match review shows subspecialitiesE lure

Article Abstract:

Dorothy Andriole, MD, decided to work out data from the three major resident matching programs in the US in order to give US medical students a perspective on what their odds were for matching in a particular specialty. The analysis of the match results from 1996 to 2002 documents the flight from primary care to subspecialties.

Award aims to boost physician mentors

Article Abstract:

The Joy McCann Foundation, which supports excellence in nursing and education, has constituted a cash award of $150,000 to honour the physicians who act as mentors. The views of the four physicians who won the awards on mentoring in medical education are described.
