Retirement was paradise ... for about a week!
Article Abstract:
Jamestown, NY, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Harold M. Childress decided to retire to South Florida when he was 70 years old, but quickly regretted the decision after a two-week trial retirement. Barely managing to regain a lease on his office, Dr. Childress initially decided to practice medicine part-time and take long vacations in Florida. When the Florida trips proved unrewarding, he decided that being surrounded by friends, his practice, and familiar surroundings justified staying in New York. He now lives exclusively in New York and practices medicine part-time.

A nutrient bottle fuels his body, while a positive attitude does the rest
Article Abstract:
Dr Jeffrey Dutton, a psychiatric resident at the University of Washington in Seattle, must undergo home parenteral nutrition (HPN) therapy to survive. The therapy substitutes for his inability to digest food. He has incorporated the technology into his lifestyle and feels that he can lead a normal life. However, the HPN therapy costs at least $100,000 each year, and Dutton feels that this cost factor will limit where he can establish his profession.
