Foods that are high in complex carbohydrates and low in fat play a role in maintaining a high level of physical energy. For example, pasta, rice, breads, fruits and vegetables break down into glucose which is stored easily in cells, muscles and bodily organs. The body works harder to use fat.

A 'sub-clinical' eating disorder is one in which extreme weight control methods and binge eating are combined. The first step is to define why weight loss is desirable and to examine eating patterns. The next step is to eat only until the hunger is satisfied.
