Saving our skin

Article Abstract:

The Skin Care Campaign began as a joint dermatology group response to the threatened removal of dermatology treatments from the list of medications available on prescription in the UK. It went on to influence the establishment of an All Party Parliamentary Group on Skin which continues to meet six times a year. The Skin Campaign lobbies parliament, both directly and through the all party group, on health service provision, and campaigns on behalf of dermatology in the medical profession. It also informs and educates the general public on skin care issues.

Skin tight collaboration

Article Abstract:

The Skin Care Campaign (SCC) lobbies the UK government on issues of importance to skin disease sufferers. The SCC is an alliance of health professions, patients organisations and industry. It conducts investigations, reports its findings, and uses political means to bring about improvements in dermatological care. The SCC has successfully campaigned for primary health professionals to be able to prescribe longer lengths of the bandaging used in eczema treatment. It is trying to secure more dermatology input during the training of health professionals.
