Semen quality and reproductive endoctrine function in relation to biomarkers of lead, cadmium, zinc, and copper in men

Article Abstract:

The authors present research regarding the effects of lead, cadmium, zinc, and copper in the body on men's semen quality and reproductive endocrine function. Results indicated that not only these chemicals, but smoking habits, alcohol consumption, and age affected quality and function.

Use of the Caco-2 cell model to assess the relative lead-chelating ability of diasterioisomers of 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms of lead uptake into the intestinal cells are examined through the lead-chelating ability of meso and racemic forms of 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid. The racemic form was found to be more readily transported across the Caco-2 monolayer than the meso form.

Pattern of stress protein expression in human lung cell-line A549 after short- or long-term exposure to cadmium

Article Abstract:

The authors present research into the effects of short- and long-term cadmium exposure on heat shock proteins in lung lining cells A549. Results indicate the maximum exposure limit to cadmium should be lowered.
