Article Abstract:

A material safety data sheet (MSDS) describes the physical and health hazards of a chemical or mixture and informs the users about the safe handling, usage and storage of a hazardous material. MSDS also provides information on first-aid treatment and proper personal protective equipment for workers. Several MSDS options can be found by searching the Internet. Some of the Internet providers with the most comprehensive coverage of MSDS are Oregon State University Gopher site, National Toxicology Program Home Page, Stanford University Gopher Site, University of Utah Gopher Site and Vermont Safety Information Resources on the Internet Home Page.

How to locate resources on the World Wide Web

Article Abstract:

Netscape Navigator is one of the software tools available to search resources on the World Wide Web. The Netscape icon has to be double-clicked to start the program. Web pages contain the Web locator or Universal Resource Locator and several icons. Netscape allows users to find information and Web sites on any topic. Netscape also allows users to access other Web search sites such as Excite, Yahoo, Alta Vista, Magellan and Lycos.

How to use Department of Labor Web sites

Article Abstract:

Individuals who work in the occupational safety and health field should be familiar with the US Dept. of Labor's Web sites. These Web sites include WWW URL and FTP URL. Such Web sites provide the viewer with direct links to the various Dept. of Labor agencies, information about the US Job Bank, news releases, regulatory information, labor-related data and grant and contract information.
