Should nurses aim to be as autonomous as midwives?

The new Scottish chief nursing officer, Paul Martin feels that nurses should have the same professional autonomy as midwives. The views about the profession are mentioned as both could be trained together, they are regulated by the same body and are a part of the same eprofessionalE family.

'We have got to change the attitude of nurses towards food and nutrition'

Some nurses see feeding patients or helping them to eat as not their job, but drugs and dressings are considered as real nursing. Nurses should be taught about the importance of good nutrition and the implications of malnutrition.
