Helping people with learning disabilities to handle grief

Article Abstract:

The needs of people with learning disabilities who have suffered a bereavement have generally been ignored in the past. However, it is now starting to be recognised that these people require help and support as they come to terms with their loss, and that specialist bereavement counselling may be appropriate. The best people to provide such a service are community nurses for people with learning disabilities who have received appropriate training.
