Sobering statistics

Article Abstract:

The issue of substance abuse in a workplace that affects workplace safety and health program are examined. The approach of the alliance among the Occupational Safety Health Administration's (OSHA), Labor Department and others for an Alcohol-and Drug-Free Workplace Program is presented. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration suggests a Workplace Managed Care model that reduces the substance abuse at workplace.

Crafting the message vital to young worker safety

Article Abstract:

The importance of conveying proper safety and health messages to the teen workers, as they are more prone to work place injuries, is presented. Few tips to train young workers on the safety methods are presented along with the responsibilities of the employers in training them.

Getting workers to take the lead on safety

Article Abstract:

The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association conference was held in Washington in September 2003. The main theme at the session was about voluntary protection, where the workers took the lead to keep themselves protected at the workplace.
